Shellie is 4 Months Old!!

Well this summer went by crazy fast as most of you know! We had tons of fun and lots of driving adventures!

We camping in Logan, Well Devin camped I slept in the truck with the babies cuz the wind was freaking me out in the tent. We skiied a lot and got to eat at some yummy places. We also got to camp in Bear Lake this past weekend and we rented a Sea Doo. It was fun but I don't think we'll be renting one again. It wasn't worth the money. But it was fun to be out camping and have water and bathrooms and electricity in the trailer. We had fun. We also got to go to the fair here back in August. Devin went several days and I went on the day that it was buy one get one in free. I couldn't spend the money on the fair after deciding to get my couches finally. Anyway seems like we didn't do much but we haven't been home in forever it feels like and when we were home we were doing garage sales. SO MUCH FUN! Not!

Shellie is 4 months today! She is such a beautiful baby girl! She is now 13 lbs 2 oz which isn't too big and 25 1/2 inches long which is ginormous! Her head is pretty dang small to. Not even to the 4th percentile. But 92th percentile for her height! Insanely tall!! She is such a good baby when she wants to be. She's still not really sleeping through the night. I can't remember the last night I got more than 3-4 hours of sleep. If it's not Shell waking me up it's Em screaming bloody murder for who knows what reason. Ugh.

Shell loves to talk and say I love you and Hi lol. It's so funny how much she mimics our speech. Emry never did that. She loves to smile and laugh which sounds like a choking cough. Too cute. She is starting to lose her hair but it's still getting longer. She has big eyes and loves to watch everyone. Especially her brother. She will contort herself into the worst positions trying to watch him. This has made her roll of the couch, Barely caught her and she's rolled over on the ground a couple times now. She's not purposely doing it all the time yet so I'm not counting it. She loves to eat her hands and is now starting to hold and eat her toys. She only grabs for toys on her changing table though? It's not even a toy its the bag dispencer for dirty diapers?

She loves to kick me and grab my arms. Her nails grow like crazy and I always have big gashes on my tummy from her toes. she hates being on her tummy and she has the most amazing loudest girl scream we've ever heard. She breaks our heart every time she smiles. We Love Her!

Baby #3

Here's an overall of what's been going on for a few months. Some are talked about in earlier posts and I just now have pictures for them.

Last week Devin got his vacation so we went to utah to have some fun. We went to Lagoon and Emry absolutely hated to ride any rides so we took him back to grandma and we went back. We had fun but we both agreed it's just not that much fun compared to the theme parks like disney. We also went to raging waters in salt lake which is now seven peaks. We had a ton of fun there. It was so nice to be in the water on such a hot day. Devin got fried!! It was funny to see.

We spent several days looking at vehicles. We have been looking for months, years really and we finally gave up on finding a good running, great shape used vehicle. We decided to just get the truck that we always knew we'd have to someday get. We found that there was such great rebates on the brand new ones that they were cheaper than getting a used older one! So we did it. We're really happy to have our truck and know that we have a 4x4 vehicle and that we never have to search for a truck again. Now we are looking for a cheap older vehicle. I think it's going to be a 2000 or newer honda accord.

I wonder why pictures so this? It's not sideways when it's on my computer??? Blessing picture

Family picture finally!

Shells in her(mine) blessing outfil I'm so happy it fit and was in such fantastic shape. She also wore her cousins shoes and SHOULD of had her great gramma's blanket but I forgot it in Wyoming. No worries, I cried for like 2 hours while driving to get Devin. I was devastated. Still am...

Shell Again

Baby girl smiling for the camera

So we had the blessing in Devin's parents ward up in Logan so that family could make it, though most still didn't come and I'm still mad about it. Especially since they were the ones trying to convince us to do it there. On top of that, we hit a deer in Logan canyon so now I have to pay to get it fixed. Oh in my MOM'S van so that double sucks. Ugh Im angry. 500 bucks down the drain. I will NEVER have a couch!!!

Ok so my complaining doesn't end there. Our bills so far with Shell's delivery is over $35,000!!!! It's insane what these people are trying to charge!! I think I'm on a life sucks binge right now.

Shell had her two month appt yesterday. She's is doing fantastic except that the DR found 2 black dots in her pupil. I can't find any info on this except that it is CANCER!! The dot's are signs that she has tumors in her eyes. I really hope this isn't the case. We find out on the 27th. Prayers people Prayers!!

Ok so on a happier note, Shell is BEAUTIFUL! She is such a great girl. She is now sleeping about 6-7 hours a night usually. I'm still having a hard time getting to sleep so I'm only averaging 3-4 hours. She has started to smile back at you. She loves when I sing to her and she'll mimick the mouth movements. I love it! She follows us around the room and her favorite place to be is in your arms or on her changing table??? She HATES to be in dirty diapers so we have to change her all the time immediately after any type of bathroom occurance. Her hair started to come in blonde at the roots but now the brand new hair thats like .5 cm long is dark so fingers crossed she has dark hair! She has finally started to accept binkys. I love binky babies. It's so cute.

She knows when she wants to go to sleep. She starts freaking out during her feeding and it's a good thing she can't move much because she'd have ripped my boob off during it. She likes to be wrapped up tight when she's in bed, but will soon have her arms stretched up high in the sky. She likes to look at the walls. Weird??? She loves car rides and trips out. She sleeps the whole time. She doesn't like to sleep much at home if it's not in your arms. So the 6-7 hours she's in your arms for half of it. Oh well. We're working on it. I think that's enough updates? Cant think of anything else. Sorry if you're still reading this, It's all for my memory.

Next week is Devin's vacation and we're headed to Utah to go to Lagoon and 7 Peaks and the zoo and probably the solomon center in ogden. We'll see how tired we are. Yay for a break finally!

3 Weeks Young!

My Shellie-bean is 3 weeks old today!

I can't believe that much time has gone by. We've had lots of friends and family visit but it's slowed down a lot. I have finally been able to move around a little better without being in agonizing pain. I have also been allowed to drive. You never know what you have until you don't have it anymore! 5 more weeks and counting til I can waterski!! I can't wait!

Shellie is so beautiful and fun! She is queen of the funny faces and constipated noises. She's not a fan of sleeping yet and HATES HATES HATES so be put down. It's been hard to get anything done like even going to the bathroom because she'll start her noises and wake Emry up. I'm very tired but oh man do I love that she's outta me! I can FINALLy sort of sleep on my tummy! Though my stupid overfilled breasts won't allow it for long before they soak my bed. I thought I was going to get lucky and not be a milk cow with Shellie but.......10 ounces outta one breast =milk cow.

Emry loves his little sister but has good and bad days. Sometimes he has a huge fit if I need to feed her. Then he'll want to sit in my lap and hold her. He's so fun!

I really suck at pictures right now. I need to take more so I can document her growing up. I can't tell that she's growing or that she looks different so more pictures is a must.

Hope all is well!

Shellie's Birth Story

Buyer Beware! It gets graphic below so don't read if you don't want to read about birthing babies!

It all started on Monday of the week she was born. I woke up at about 3:30 am to find a lot of blood. I was cramping really bad. It felt like the worst period of my life kind of cramps. I called my doctor once they opened up in the morning to ask about the bleeding and cramping. It was the only question she asked me at every one of my visits so I thought it important to call. The nurse told me it was because of intercourse and not to worry and that maybe I was in the beginning stages of labor. Okie dokie. Still hurting. The bleeding stopped that day but the cramping continued.

On Thursday afternoon I decided to call my doctor to find out what the after hours protocol was because I wasn't sure if she would even deliver my baby if it was after hours. I found out that she would if she was in town to do it. However she happened to be out of town until Sunday. That's okay because I wasn't scheduled for my induction until the following Friday. No way would she actually come before that because it would be too convienent for Mommy.

The moment I hung up the phone, I got my first contraction. Painless, so I wasn't really sure it was actually a contraction and not just the baby spinning in circles. They came every 15 minutes on the dot. I had spent the morning doing chores and Emry's nap time taping the upstairs for Devin to paint on the weekend. I swept and mopped the floor. Devin came home and I was distracting myself with chores, I wasn't sure I was still contracting. We took Em to the library to play for a little bit. Then went home and put him to bed. I laid down for a little bit and oh man was I contracting. I decided to take a bath to see if it got better. It didn't. We had started timing and I was 3 minutes apart at this point and they were starting to really hurt.

We called Grandma Anderson to come over and sleep since Em was already in bed. Thank goodness she was in town! We went to the Hospital and checked into the ER since I don't have prenatal care in Rock Springs. This is where we encountered the only not nice person thee entire hospital stay. Then I got transfered to Labor and Delivery. Sure enough I was contracting 2-3 minutes apart. The nurse checked and I was dilated to between a 3-4 and 80% effaced.

She was going to check me in two hours. If I progressed, I got to stay, if not they would send me home. I did not like that option! There was absolutely no way I wanted to go home having that strong of contractions that close together.

So I got up and walked a lot and tried to get her coming down. They I had a wave of dizziness so I laid down. About 20 minutes later she came back to check me and she said I was the same and she'd check me in another hour. When she went to check me she found some blood. She brushed it off and said it was due to her checking me.

Another hour went by and still hard contractions that seem to be getting a little closer together and lasting longer. She came back to check me and WOAH was there blood. She went to call the Doctor. He said to just moniter it. So that's what she did about every 30 minutes. It just got more and more bloody and I had only reached a 4 for sure. By this point babies heart beat started to jump around. The nurse kept coming in and saying baby is doing yucky. I'm thinking what the heck does that mean! She was referring to the heart. I didn't find that out until I saw the Doctor a few days later. Her heart rate was about 120 but would drop really low or disappear altogether.

So the next thing I know, I have three nurses walking in with their surgury garbs on and one says, he's gonna cut ya! Now imagine this being said with a arm gung ho kind of maneuver. Like a "hot diggity dog" kind of thing. Devin was on the phone with work and I was trying to tell him to get off. They took me away before he even hung up. I expected him to coming in and going to get dressed for it. Nope. He never showed up. They sent him back to the room.

So with no kiss or goodbye to my husband I had to go in and have an emergency C-section. I was freaking out and crying asking for Devin and they kept saying he's getting ready, they'll bring him in right before they start. Next thing I knew, I was being pushed around in my tummy. I'm all are they bring my husband cuz I KNOW he doesn't want to see whats going on down there now. Then they bothered to tell me that he wasn't allowed during and emergency one. Ok. So here I am laying there being torn apart and I didn't get to tell him I loved him if I died. Yes dramatic but it can totally happen. Thank goodness I had such an awesome and sweet anastesialogist that he talked me through the whole thing and kept my focus on the feelings in my arms. Oh!

So before all this happened I was able to get my epidural. It worked great and was only slightly painful to get done. Nothing compared to the contractions. It worked too good. Soon I couldn't breathe and I was throwing up. It made my chest, arms, neck, back all start going numb. It was so good that the left side of my face felt so funny and I couldn't open my left eye. It was too heavy. I called the nurse and told her I didn't feel good, then threw up. She gave me oxygyn and took the epidural off. She said we'd put it back on in about 90 minutes. Ok. Then the c-section thing happened

So they put the epidural back in and my whole body went numb again. So I had to concentrate on telling him when I was sick and when I could feel my hands. He kept having me squeeze his hands and pretty soon I couldnt do it with my right hand. I tried with all my might. I so didn't like that feeling. Then she started to cry!

She wasn't even out yet and she was crying. Then she was out and crying even more. After about 10 minutes they brought her over to me all cleaned up. I got to say I love you and give her a kiss then Shellie was gone. I'm not sure if I fell asleep at this point. I was so drained and emotionally I was crushed because I couldn't hold her, I didn't have my husband and I knew i was going to be in a lot more pain soon. They the Doctor asked if I was going to have my tubes tied. OH YA! I forgot about this and hadn't finished my research on what way we were going to go with birth control. We knew couldn't have anymore kids but we just hadn't made up our minds. It took a little bit but I said might as well. So he did that and then stapled me up.

Then I went to a recovery room where they gave me a TON of pain killers and waited for the epidural to wear off. They poked me all the way down till I could feel my toes normally. Then I got to go to my Recovery room to meet my baby.

So We went to the hospital about 10. I was checked first time at 11:20 next time at 1:45am then off and on until 5:30am when they decided to call the Doctor. They took me in for the C-section about 6:48 and she was born at 6:51. That's how fast everything went. They didn't even shave me down there, which you'd think they have to do for all surguries!

Okay so now it's 8:40 and I am in the room. They told me they were going to go grab my husband, that he was in the nursury. The longest 20 minutes later they came it. I asked for and her and he said he hadn't even gotten to hold her yet. What were those nurses doing???? So he held her and kissed her then brought her to me! She is so beautiful! I can't believe I have Children! not a kid but KIDS!! Yay! She did remarkabley well on her APGAR score which is rare for babies that were having heart rate problems. She was breathing and she ate perfectly right from the first try. She had beautiful color and she wasn't puffy or cone-headed or anything!

OH I forgot to say that when she was being pulled out one of the nurses gasped "the cord is wrapped around her neck twice!" OH MY GoSH!!!! then I started bawling.

Anyway she was doing great, I was doped up on drugs and the hospital stay was AMAZING! We were really scared about having the baby here in Rock Springs vs going to Utah. But I'd stay here in a heart beat again! Not that I'm having any more kids. The nurses were amazing and the rooms were nice. We really didn't want to go home when we did. We should have stayed one more night. Oh well.

So Shellie was born on May 13th(yes lucky Friday) and she was 6 pounds 8.6 ounces and 19 inches long.

I saw my Doctor on Wednesday the following week and he explained to me what had happened. My placenta had detached from the uterine wall and it was causing me to hemmorhage. When this happened the oxygyn and food is cut off from baby. So that is what had started on Monday when my Doctor's nurse shrugged it off as being from sex. Even though I told her I had NEVER bled in this pregnancy, not even after the Dr checked me at 37 weeks. That was the second time that had brushed something off as not being a concern and it was something major. Good thing I didn't have my baby with them.

My beautiful mother rushed to be here with us on Friday and to watch Emry. She took such good care of all of us all week. I have never had so much good food! Em wasn't the best of boy while grandma was here but it was still worth it. She left Thursday night. Friday was my first day alone with the kids and I'd have to say Em was way more behaved. He was helpful. I was in a lot of pain but we made it through the day and the house was NOT destroyed. YAY!

Now Shellie is a week old and she is so much fun! She's a dream baby just like Emry was. She rarely cries. Like really I think we've heard it 3 times now. When we hear it we're all, was that her? YAY she makes sounds! She hasn't spit up yet and barely even burps for us. She's done it like 3 times, but not while we were trying to get her to do it. She eats about every 3-4 hours and has just started begging for it today. She's wanted to eat about every 2 hours. She prefers to be held over being put down. She'll wake up and say she's hungry then immediately go back to sleep as soon as she's in your arms. She hasn't needed a binky yet. YAY! She's a very alert kid. She loves to look around and stare at you. She smiles when Emry gives her kisses. which he does about a hundred times a day. She has beautiful dark hair and I'm estimating that her eyes will turn green. She is just perfect. I love my kids!

So long but that's all for now!
