Feb 25, 2010

Emry turned one on Feb 25th this year. It was so much fun! I made him a cake on his birthday night and he demolished it. After daddy took a piece and ate it Emry decided he could eat it too. He ate about half of it. Then on Saturday we had his real birthday part out in utah at my mom's house. THANKS MOM! It was soooooo much fun! We had tons of people come up from everywhere and Emry loved playing with the other boys. I was able to find him a cupcake cake in the shape of a monkey so I was happy about that. Emry was getting his second tooth that weekend though. I didn't figure it out until the next day when I felt and there was a tooth! He was very clingy Saturday and refused to let anyone but mom or dad hold him the entire weekend. Oh I guess he got shots on Friday too which made him hate EVERYONE because of the mean ol' nurses. Poor guy. But we had a blast at the party and were so glad we got to see friends and family that we rarely get to see since we've been married.

I have tons of pictures but I'm being lazy so I haven't put them on my computer yet.

On March 9 , my grandfather passed away. 3 months to the day after his wife. No it wasn't because of broken heart. He was 88 years old, very lonely and was in the hospital and found out he most likely had cancer. It was his time. He didn't want to live a life where someone had to take care of him. His funeral was beautiful. The whole family came again minus my sister and plus my brother. I was really happy to see him because I see him like once every 2 years. My grandma's funeral was very very very hard on the whole family. Emotions were running very high and people were flat out crazy. But this funeral everyone was prepared and ready and we were all happy that Grandpa was truly 'ok'. The cousins all had a chance to sit down without the parents and talk. I don't think it's ever happened. Grandma was our news source on the family so it was great to find out what was really going on with everyone man my family is super funny! I love it! Jeremy of course slept thought the whole thing. Melissa was really sad she couldn't be there but she's due in days so she couldn't go. We'll miss you Grandpa!!!

So the day after we got home from the funeral, Devin found out that his cousin had passed away. He was about 21. Devin had a hard time at work that day, but thankfully he was almost done so not too many people saw him with his puffy eyes. I don't know too many details about Blake, just that he was sick during his life and had a liver transplant. I worked for Devin on Friday so that he could go up to Idaho for the funeral. He was really happy that he could go. Thankfully Emry was finally over his I don't want anyone but mom or dad week and hugged EVERYONE. Devin got to hang out with his family but was exhausted by that night. Then on Saturday he got to go snowmobiling with his dad and brother Darrell. I was happy he got in one last ride this season.
I was also happy to have a day to myself to get things done, however I spent most of the time sick so it wasn't that great.

That's all for random events....up next our house updates.....

There's no place like Home.

So we finally did it!!!

this is going to be our brand new home!!!
After weeks of looking at hundreds of old nasty houses and duplex's we discovered this almost built home that was in our price range! Though it's a bit more than we planned on spending for a house it's definately worth it to have your own home, on your own property! It won't be ready to moved in til the end of May beginning of June. So I'll keep updating everyone on my home's progress. We chose all our colors today for outside, inside, carpet etc. It's so much fun! I'm also so stinking happy that I don't have to drag Emry around all day in and out of the car to see homes. I just get to sit and wait! We're so lucky to be able to have this opportunity to have our very first home. We can't stop thanking our Heavenly Father for making our dreams come true. I can't wait to have a back yard for my beautiful son to run around in and play catch with his daddy. I'm tearing up lol. Anyway this is just a quick update with what I've been concentrating on but This last weekend was Emry's birthday party and it was a blast so that will be a whole different blog! YAY!!!

Post 3

When we got home from the cruise we celebrated my birthday but we didn't really do anything. We went over to Devin's parents for the night but I'm still mad about that day so I'm not going to say much. Then we celebrated Devin's birthday and I made him a great big cake, steak dinner, and invited his dad over. It was really good.
This last weekend we went to Logan and went to my mom's sealing to her husband Russ. It was an awesome experience. It was my first time seeing someone else get sealed. Our friends Barbara and Jeremy were able to come to the temple too. It was great. Then we went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant and got some yummy yummy fries! Then Emry had his first snowmobile ride with daddy in the back yard of his parents house. On the ride home mommy gave emry some licorace and this was the aftermath! lol I love it!

On Jan 25 I gave emry his first haircut. I had been putting it off because it wasn't really growin on top but the sides were like four inches long so I cut it down to one inch. He looks so much older! I think I've blogged about this already?

On our way home from Utah this last weekend We came upon a roll over and stopped. We were there right after it happened. They weren't wearing their seatbelts and the girl got thrown from the SUV. She was laying next to the road. Devin got out to help can came running back to get towels and a sheet to put on the girl. Her leg was missing. It ended up being underneath of her barely attached but it was bleeding a lot. We piled blankets on the her and kept her warm and put Devin's Jacket on the guy and had him sit down. It took over an hour for the paramedics to arrive. It was very scary. I couldn't sleep for two nights. I just kept having thoughts and picturing her leg twisted the wrong direction and thinking how lucky we all are and how at any second we could not have a leg anymore. I was traumatized. I can't handle bones sticking out or things where they shouldn't be. Anyway Devin didn't get his coat back I guess they ended up cutting it off the guy. We know that he's fine but have no clue what happened to the girl. She was airlifted to Salt Lake.
Anyway moral to this story is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE always wear your seatbelt. The roads were dry. No storm. Nothing. An accident can happen anytime and for absolutely no reason. Just always alwasy weat it!
Two more posts after this one.....

Procrastination is a Devil!

Okay I've put off blogging long enough but I've finally found some time to commit to it. I have sooo much to write about that I just kept not doing it. So we'll have several different blogs to go through starting with the beginning of the Cruise.

Devin and I left on Thursday night and drove over to Utah and stayed at my mom's. Emry was Grandma Anderson since the following Monday because I was cleaning construction again. So I was already missing him and having an awesome time not breastfeeding anymore.

Friday morning we got a ride from Nini(Devin's sister in law) over to the train station and we road the front runner into Salt Lake. Then we jumped on a bus and went to the Airport. We flew to Pheonix(which we barely got to in time) then to Fort Lauderdale. We arrived at 10pm and couldn't go to the Cruise Terminal until 1pm the next day. So what does every sane person do in this situation? They get a hotel room. What does Devin and Rachel do in this situation? They sleep at the airport. If we can bestow one moral from this story is NEVER sleep at an airport! Well we spent the night trying to find a cheap hotel(nothing under $190) so then we decided to rent a car and sleep in it because if would be way less loud and stinky than the airport we were at. So we went to the Rental car building and found a COUCH!!! So Devin sprawled out and passed out and I sat in a chair and killed my body. Then a few hours later I got up and walked around and found more couches! and WAY more comfortable and darker area. So we migrated to them and took turns sleeping. Then we got up in the morning and changed our clothes and brushed our teeth and started on our adventure!

Devin wanted to walk the 4 miles to the cruise terminal versus paying $15 for a taxi. We went outside to catch the bus back to the airport terminal so we could catch a taxi cuz heck no I wasn't walking around in gangster florida dragging suitcases. So as we were standing outside we say a bus that said it was going to the Cruise Terminal. Turns out you had to rent a car in order to use the shuttle service. Well that sucked cuz it would have been 20 bucks to rent a car to sleep in and we were going to waste 15 on a taxi. Shucks well we went over to the airport to see if we could call more hotels for the night we came back from the cruise because we didn't want to sit in the airport again. Well we ended up reserving a car at Hertz because they were the cheapest AND would let us utilize the shuttle before and after the Cruise. So YAY! we got on the bus and headed to the ship. We breezed to the loading process and got yelled at several times because Devin still does not have a passport. We were on the ship!!! My last cruise we weren't able to go to our room right away but this one we were able to go to it at 1pm. We got on the ship at 11 so we went and ate at the buffet then fell asleep by the pool. It felt nice to sleep! Then we went to our room and fell asleep til 7 and realized we had already left:( I was sad we didn't get to see us leave but hey we were on our way!

We got upgraded to a Balcony Suite but the balcony was so dirty we couldn't really see anything unless we stood the whole time to see over the railing. They cleaned in the next to last day. The shower was also full of mold so that was kind of nasty. Sad to say we also never saw and animals made of towels in our room or chocolates on our pillows.

We spent a lot of our time walking around the ship, eating and playing games like foosball, ping pong, shuffleboard. Devin also forced me to do Kereokee one night, we were horrible!

Each night they had a sit down dinner you could go to and eat with people. We were at a table with people around our age and not married. My passport has my maiden name on it so the ship thought we weren't married.

The reasons to go on a cruise is usually to have everything provided for you. Food, Entertainment and travel. The food SUCKED! It was rarely warm and tasted weeks old. We called and asked if Devin could get steak everyday and ice cream 24 hours and we were lied to. When he could find ice-cream the machines were broken and came out like soup. Devin had steak once. I lived on Burgers and rolls because those were the closest to American food we could find. Oh did I forget to mention our cruise was an Armenian American Heritage Cruise? Stuck on a boat with 1200 Armenians who don't shower or put deodarant on. So everything was geared towards them from the food to the entertainment. Everytime we went to a show or anything we had to sit through 12 languages before we heard english. Good thing nothing bad happened it would take a half hour before we found out we were sinking or something.

So we didn't enjoy the actual Ship or the Staff(they were rude, horrible, insufferable, and SUCKED at their jobs that we were REQUIRED to tip them for). But we enjoyed a week of relaxing, sleeping, doing nothing, watching tv and just being Devin and Rachel again.

We enjoyed the ports that we visited. First stop was US Virgin Islands, St Thomas. We went on a ultimate tour because it involved a castle. We spent 2 hours at the beach which is way too long for us and then made our way to the castle. We found a 20 foot tower. That was their castle! Ugh and we wasted a 100 bucks on that. But the sights were beautiful and we enjoyed walking around and seeing the island.

The second port was San Juan Puerto Rico. We went zip lining in the Rainforest. This was a ton of Fun! I forgot to mention that we became friends with one of the couples at our table and they joined us for this excursion. It made it even more fun because Chad is afraid of heights. He helped himself get over the fear by making Tarzan sounds as he flew through the jungle. It was hilarious.

Thats RIGHT!!!! A CRUISE!!!!
I'm headed back to work so that means that Devin had to take his vacation early so we decided to hang out at my dad's house down in Mesquite because Cruises and Vacations were way too much money and Devin doesn't have a passport. On Friday night I decided to look one more time and found the most perfect cruise! 7 Days leaving Fort Lauderdale Florida and going to San Juan Puerto Rico, Grand Turks, Turks and Caicos Islands and the Virgin Islands. We are very excited to finally have our honeymoon. We also get to celebrate our birthdays with the present.
NO EMRY!!!! THANKS GRANDMA!!! We already miss our baby boy though. I've been cleaning so he's with grandma already. Yes I cried. Anyway last night at I was checking email for our boarding pass's and such I discovered our present. THEY UPGRADED US!!! Yes mam to a veranda suite(balcony). We are so stinking excited and that ladies and gentlemen is why the song up top is stuck in my head. Good ol' verandah!

I'll post lots and lots of pictures when we get home

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I thought I should hurry up and get a blog up before Christmas cuz We'll have a lot to write about and we don't want another super duper long blog. Life has still been crazy! We're all done with crafts except for on ebay if I ever get any time to list them. I have my next building to clean but can't seem to find time or sitters so I can get started We'll see if it happens. I start school January 11th so life's going to get even more crazy. That's all for current.

December 9th my Grandma Hovik passed. She had four Hearth Attacks and was taken off Life Support and died a couple hours after. We had her funeral December 12th. It was a very very spiritual event for me. We see birth, and all the things that happen after, blessings, baptisms, missions, marriages, sealings, endowments etc. It was amazing to see the end of a life and all that it brings. In a sense it brought closure to my life. I was able to help dress my Grandmother in her Temple Clothes Friday. I was terrified about seeing a dead body. I didn't think about touching her. I got there and my Aunt grabbed my hand and said touch her! My stomache exploided! But I got through it and it was one of the top five best days of my life. Though the week events had me completely drained and very very tired. I didn't get much sleep cuz I got kicked to the couch by my own child. He refused to let me sleep in the same room as him. Not fun!

During the week in Utah I was able to get a lot of errands done and see some friends that We've missed a ton and even got to eat at IN and OUT! Yum.
After a week away from my husband and around a lot of family I was very happy to come home to Wyoming. And so was Emry! We walked in and if you were here you would have heard me scream. I completely forgot what my house looked like! CHRISTMAS! So happy. And I put Emry down and he squealed as he adventured into every nook and cranny of the apartment. He was so happy but no daddy was found for a few hours. We love to come home and hate to leave.
I think that's all the news we have. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Emry With Grandma Ready to go Walking Christmas Lights.

Emry with My favortie cousin Brian and his wife Amanda in the background.

I got several boxes of clothes for Emry and I was in his room going through them and stuff and I turned around to find this. My son LOVES to take things out of boxes and laundry baskets. I have never seen him get into one himself. I can say now that he's done it Twice!!! He's hilarious.
